Controlling individual teeth, segments of teeth, and the occlusal plan are essential in order to create a foundation for implant and restorative dentistry to build on. With advancements in osseous anchorage such as temporary anchorage devices, osseous plates and implants, we have control of the dentition like we never have had before. This advancement in conjunction with clear aligner therapy creates the ideal treatment modality to set up an array of restorative cases from simple to complex while achieving excellent case acceptance.

Dr. Ray will discuss the use of current technologies for Guided Bone Regeneration with an emphasis on resorbable membrane technology.
The objectives are to familiarize the audience with the science of bone regeneration and the science of the products we use to accomplish bone growth for dental implants or tooth retention.

The goal is to show how product selection can impact results and why there are differences when using different products.

Endodontically-treated teeth often have undergone significant coronal destruction and possibly loss of radicular dentin, secondary to endodontic treatment. For many decades, metallic posts have been a standard part of a dentist’s armamentarium for restoring endodontically-treated teeth. As in most technologies, there has been a continuous search for the optimal material, design, and physical properties of the endodontic post. Currently available fiber-reinforced resin posts and fiber-reinforced resins are essentially composite materials; they are composed of fibers of carbon or silica surrounded by a matrix of polymer resin. The similarity between their modulus of elasticity and that of dentin possibly seems to lower the risk of failure due to root fracture. However, an important factor determining the success of luting procedures remains the knowledge and experience of the practitioner in their characteristics, bonding techniques, and the predictability of the clinical technique. This lecture will analyze available data and provide a practical albeit evidence-based approach to the advantages and limitations of fiber-reinforced resin technology in clinical practice.

Ceramics have been able to adapt and keep up with the ever changing needs in dentistry and like many other materials and technologies they have been adopted from engineering and modified to solve clinical challenges. However the inherent brittleness, low flexural strength, fracture toughness of conventional glass and alumina ceramics have been the main obstacle for their extensive use. The discovery of ceramic oxides broadened the range of application of ceramics in dentistry and dental implantology in particular. The last decade has been one where we have witnessed an “explosion” in the use of zirconia in dentistry. Along with this phenomenon the manufacturing protocols and advanced formulas of zirconia have been created which have led to zirconia becoming a stable, biocompatible, bioinert and structurally stable implant material. Today in dental implantology there are two main zirconia ceramic implant biomaterials namely Yttria Stabilized Tetragonal Zirconia (Y-TZP) and Alumina Toughened Zirconia (ATZ).

This presentation will cover zirconia as an implantable bioceramic, the rationale and the indications and benefits of metal free teeth replacement. Clinical cases completed with zirconia dental implants and prosthetics will also be presented.

Lithium Disilicate (E-max) and Zirconia have become mainstream biomaterials of choice in restorative dentistry. Each material has very different chemical and physical properties which can be advantageous depending on the clinical scenario presented. This presentation aims to explain these differences and with case scenarios and give clinicians more confidence in their biomaterial selection for upcoming cases
