Anterior and posterior crowns are predictable restorations when there is adequate prep height for resistance and retention. However, there are times axial wall height may be limited for a variety of different reasons and “out of the box” thinking about prep design may be necessary. How can we improve the resistance and retention of crowns by modifying the tooth? Can we improve our restorative prognosis by selecting the appropriate biomaterial and cement for the case? Do we always need to replace an existing foundation restoration if it’s present? This presentation will dive into these concepts and provide clinical recommendations you can use in your practice to improve outcomes in your natural tooth crown and bridge cases.

Dental pain is one of the main reasons patients will seek out dental treatment. An unscheduled dental emergency can greatly disrupt the normal office flow and create stress within the dental practice. Understanding how to manage these types of patients by developing a systematic and methodical approach can have a positive impact on the local community and your dental practice.

The overall philosophy of dentistry promotes the preservation of the natural dentition. Often, patients will present with with emergency dental pain which can drastically impact their immediate decision to retain or extract a tooth. The goal for managing emergency endodontic treatment is to gain control over the acute symptoms so that proper treatment planning and decision making can be accomplished at a later date without pain as an influencing factor.

Root resorption can be a real enigma when diagnosing and treatment planning. Depending on the location and
severity of the resorption, it can dramatically affect the prognosis of the case. There are several different types
of root resorption, but probably the most complicated resorption to manage is the invasive cervical root
resorption. These cases need to be properly assessed. The lines of communication between the different dental
specialties need to be maintained, since the management often necessitates an inter-disciplinary approach. This
